3D Modeling Samples

Geth Specialist.

Software: Maya 2015, mentalray 2015.

A model in progress of a Geth android.  Various material tests include a Storm Trooper style render and a Virginia Tech colored material combination.  Basic high-contrast comic style test lighting.  Older images were simple Phong and Lambert test materials.

Forest Golem.

Software: Mudbox 2013, Maya 2013.

A 3D model I created to be an evil creature for my video game.  I modeled the basic features and body shape in Maya, and then moved over to Mudbox (my first Mudbox venture) to sculpt the details.  The golem's body is meant to be composed of vines, dirt, and stone.  The UVs were carefully laid out to hide seams during regular gameplay.  Normal maps and Diffuse maps are also pictured here.

Wooden Crate.

Software: Maya 2013, Mental Ray 2013.

A 3D model I modeled as a standard prop to be used in video games and short films.  I created the model from scratch, based on old style cargo crates for shipping medium to large sized objects.

Abandoned Lighthouse.

Software: Maya 2013, Mental Ray 2013, Photoshop CC

This was modeled after an abandoned lighthouse, located north of the Arctic Circle.  I modeled it for a project in a 3D modeling class, and have since used it in various video game projects and animated shorts.  All textures were created from scratch in Photoshop, using exported UV maps.

I created two different versions, the latter having slightly more detail and completely different textures to look slightly brighter and more inviting.  But only slightly.

Velociraptors.

Software: Maya 2013, Mental Ray 2013, Photoshop CC.

A dinosaur model created by following a Digital Tutors tutorial to learn more advanced modeling techniques.  I constructed the model from scratch while following along, and built the textures and laid out the UV maps as well.  The landscape was also modeled by me, and a custom texture design for it as well.  I also experimented with various stylistic changes to the head and spine.
